About the author: David Atwood is a retired petroleum industry engineer. Dave holds a BS degree from the University of Rochester and an MBA from New York University. He is founder and past president of the Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (TCADP) and served on the board of that organization for many years. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty and received their Lighting the Torch of Conscience Award. Dave has been involved in efforts to end the use of capital punishment for more than 15 years. He has been involved in issues of social justice for more than 20 years. He is the coordinator of Pax Christi Houston and has also served on the National Council of Pax Christi USA. Dave is a past president of the Houston Peace and Justice Center and served on the board as well. Dave resides in Houston, Texas.
